I love ALL food. It's no exaggeration as I cannot think of anything that i don't really like - off the top of my head that is. (Maybe if i thought really hard I could come up with a thing or two which does not appeal to the tastebuds .. hmmm, nada!). But if I were made to choose my top 3 favorites, I'd have to say Indian cuisine is at the top of the list, with Italian and Thai, very, very close seconds.
My favorite Indian joints range from the common banana leaf meal to north indian or punjabi fine dining. Love them all. The simple tangy fish curry to the rich spicy creaminess of of murg muglai.
So to celebrate my love for indian cuisine, this Chinese girl over here decided to invite some friends over for an Indian themed BBQ, starting with the slow cooked rotating BBQ tandoori chicken below. I thought a green apple, cucumber and tomato raita would be a great accompaniment to the dish.
For carbs, I made a pot of briyani rice. Since I have a 4 year old daughter who is just only taking to spicy food, I figured a mild curry like chicken khurma would be appropriate. To further indulge my daughter, I dressed up some sliced strawberries with some balsamic vinegar and a sprinkling of chopped mint leaves and cumin seeds in keeping with the Indian theme. So there you have it, a home cooked Indian meal in a Chinese Malaysian household.
